Customer Review: Best Thermostat Value on the Market!
This is the most full featured thermostat on the market as far as I can tell. And the best part is it is very affordable!
Customer Review: Not a Replacement
Be careful if you are trying to buy a replacement. Hunter Fan Co told me that they do not have a replacement for my old thermostat. My old one has a 7-pin (wires) connection coming out of the wall & this thermostat (44360) has 6 pins. My old one works, but I wanted to buy an upgrade....no luck. I guess I'm stuck with my old one and mailing back the new one.

Customer Review: Hunter Auberville Fan Review
I purchased a similar fan last year but not a Hunter. It lasted just a few months and was pretty pathetic in comparison. Anyway, I decided to replace it and chose the Hunter Auberville in its place. As I already have 4 other Hunters I felt very confident.
Took over an hour to install but it is fantastically quiet and efficient. On first use the air was coming out the sides of the blades which meant it was switched to clockwise. As soon as I switched it to counter-clockwise, the fan worked perfectly. It is so quiet I just cannot hear it hardly.
Very pleased with this model and I am about to order another one.
Customer Review: Super fan and tough to install alone
The good: this is a fine fan. It is number 5 and it is everybit as good as the other 4 Hunters up and working for over 10 years. It is quiet as advertised. It is effective at moving air in either direction. Afterall, this is the reason for buying a fan. Not only does it work well it is attractive.
The reason for giving it a 4 rating instead of a 5 is probably my inpatience but it seemed as if this day would never end. What? It is only a fan and should be easy to install. The other 4 were simple but this was a first class devilish install. I finally asked for help and it went up with similar stress but this time the stress was not on just one. Two.
I would buy another Hunter in a heartbeat but not this model.

Vornado FA1-0007-24 Zippi Desk Fan

Vornado FA1-0007-24 Zippi Desk Fan
Hot day? Don't sweat it. Stay cool with the two-speed Zippi personal fan from Vornado. Just angle the adjustable head in your direction and let the innovative and safe cloth blades provide you with a refreshing, revitalizing stream of cool air. A playful and compact folding design lets you take the Zippi on the road, so you'll never be caught sweating. Comes in a variety of fun colors. Whisper quiet operation. One-year limited warranty.
Customer Review: great little circulator
I found this in BB&B in the as-is dept. I only picked it up and gave it some thought because it had the name vornado on it. Even with the Vornado name I still didn't think this thing would have any power watsoever. And when I saw the cloth arms I knew for sure this thing wouldn't be able to blow anything, much less air. Fortunately for me there were power strips all over BB&B, so I plugged up the little fan and took it for a spin. WOW, was I surprised at the wind that came out of this thing. Maybe I started out with very low expectations, that's why I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of air that came out of these cloth arms. It's a good amount of breeze for the size of the same. I actually cool off with this thing. I definately don't expect it to circulate a room, that's asking to much for something this small. But I put it next to me on the desk and it does it's job, it cools me off and my long hair is whizzing all over my face, I have to pin up my bangs so I can see. I love this thing, it wasn't a waste of money!
The only thing I have to complain about is the level setting, there are two level settings and the first one is ok, but I always have to set it to level two cause that's where all the strength is, I do wish there was a level three.
Customer Review: Great desk fan
I have seen some other reviews that are mixed, but the bottom line is, this is a very capable desk fan. It is not powerful enough to move air in a room. The two added benefits are that it is fairly quiet (I sometimes accidently leave it on overnight) and it looks cool. I appreciate the two speed switch on the back and almost exclusively use the high speed. If you want more power you can get a bigger fan that takes up more space on your desk, but I personally am very satisfied. The only things that would make this better are a slightly longer cord (to run through the desk, etc) and a third speed. It would also be convenient if the power switch were easier to access and not located on the back of the unit. All these are minor issues that wouldn't stop me from making the same choice again.

Holmes HAPF622R Blizzard Remote Control Power Fan

Holmes HAPF622R Blizzard Remote Control Power Fan
People who favor fans over air conditioners like to feel a room breathe or to feel outdoor breezes in the house. The Holmes HAPF622R Blizzard remote control power fan brings a little more of the outdoors in with its innovative breeze modes. In addition to the standard ON setting, the Holmes Blizzard offers two settings which switch speeds randomly to mimic the feeling of natural breezes. As for power, the Blizzard has a five-fin fan blade which moves more air per rotation than the more common four-fin blade. And the front grill can oscillate as well, which increases the width of the cone of air being moved.
The fan has a charcoal-gray, rounded casing that echoes the circle of the fan itself; the curved carrying handle arcs above for easy portability. The manual controls are another arc of light-gray buttons on the face of the fan. With the convenient remote control, however, those buttons might never even get used. Both the manual and the remote buttons use icons for the various commands: a circle for on/off, three wavy lines for the breeze functions, a clock for the timer, a fan for the speed setting, and a fan with two arrows for the front grill oscillation. There are three speeds, and the timer can be set to shut off at any half-hour increment up to 7-1/2 hours.
Always unplug fan before cleaning. Use a soft cloth moistened with a mild, nonabrasive soap solution. Do not use gasoline, paint thinner, or benzene as a cleaning solution; also do not allow water to drip on or enter fan housing. The remote control requires two AAA batteries (not included). The Holmes HAPF622R power fan measures 18 by 19 by 6 inches. Holmes provides a 3-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal use conditions. --Garland Withers
Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted
I love this fan. I love that the grate on the front twirls to create and oscillating stream of air. The air stream moves around subtly, so if you want something obvious, pick another fan.
I also enjoy that it's light-weight and thin so I can put it in a window or on the floor like a box fan, but this is much more attractive than a box fan.
It has a remote control!!!!
It is fairly quiet, except when you push one of the buttons. It beeps when you push a button which isn't very zen, but oh well.
Other features: a timer and two random "breeze" settings.
Customer Review: A cold wind!
A cold wind blows in your room, reasonably quietly, variable speed, remote controlled. A controllable blizzard. My PC loves it.

Lasko #2155A 16" 3 Speed Window Fan

Lasko #2155A 16" 3 Speed Window Fan
The 16" Electrically Reversible Window Fan powerfully circulates air through two to three rooms. Plus, its exclusive Storm Guard™ feature allows you to close the window behind fan for safety and security during inclement weather or while you're away. Made in USA.
Customer Review: WARNING!!!
SO HERE IS MY SITUATION. THE fan arrived with the on off speed knob not on the shaft. It will not go on. The shaft is cheap plastic so the knob won't stay on. I bought it from thenerds dot net and they want me to pay return shipping which would cost from $[...]to $[...] depending who ships it because of the large box. I am waiting to hear from them before I dispute the bill with the credit card company and file with the attorney General for fraud. Lesson learned is buy from AMAZON!!! At least they have a return policy you can live with. I know better now. The fan is too noisy on high speed. i have had the fan on for 2 hours. it is about 60 outside and yet the room has gone down from 80 to 78 in 2 hours. When I stand a foot away from the fan the room is as hot as it was before I had the fan on. When I stand in front of the fan it is cool. Maybe it is sucking air in the room but it is not helping cool the room. On top of the crappy performance I have to deal with the low quality of a broken knob and also a rather worthless template to install the brackets. I should have listened to my gut feeling and bought a $[...] box fan and made a bracket to hold it in the window frame so i could easily remove it. Right now I will need to take this 16 poudn fan off the bracket screws to close the window. so with shipping the nerds dot com ripped me blind. I am glad I didnt pay more for it but I might be stuck with it. I wrote to Lasko about this and will see if they can replace it for me or get me a new shaft or knob. MY ADVICE DO NOT BUY THIS FAN. CHEAP JUNK. I DON'T CARE IF 8 people liked it here- this is cheap junk
Customer Review: Disposable piece of junk
It's a nice fan - till it craps out for no reason. Mfr only gives it a 1 yr warranty. What's up with that? Bad value for the price. I'ld be VERY curious what the folks who gave it 4 - 5 stars will say when the fan inexplicably quits working.

Vornado FA1-0007-06 Zippi Personal Mini Fan

Vornado FA1-0007-06 Zippi Personal Mini Fan ( Black )
Zippi mixes its classic platinum color, soft blades and two-speed motor with a big attitude to make any room cool. Zippi is small enough to carry in a suitcase, backpack or briefcase yet strong enough to move a lot of air in a dorm room, cubicle or hotel room. Zippi's soft nylon blades quickly and quietly propel the air, but are safe to touch while the fan is in motion. Create the perfect comfort level with the two speeds and adjustable fan head.
Customer Review: Almost Perfect Portable Fan
I got this to replace a little Boston desk fan who's motor burned out. The only thing that did that Zippi doesn't is really focus the air (the Boston was shaped like a regular Vornado, with the solid housing around it), which made it cool faster without blowing things all over the desk. Somehow, even on high speed it did not make a lot of noise. Zippi is really good in small areas and being able to tilt it up and down eliminates the paper flying. The fabric blades help it take up less room and are a good safety feature. It too is quiet on high speed. It's great for me as a designer, since when I have to work onsite, I often don't know the kind of environment I might have to go to. Zippi weighs very little, and can fold up small enough to go in my tote bag with other things. I keep it in its original plastic bag. I got a second one and have it on a little shelf in my bathroom. Just enough breeze on low to have right by the mirror! If only it could cool as efficiently as that Boston fan--Boston was a very inexpensive brand that I don't think is even made anymore. Vornado is a premium brand, makes such great large fans, that this should be really great, so only 4 stars for Zippi. But overall, this is a good, versatile little fan you might want more than 1 of.
Customer Review: Have Zippi, will travel (comfortably)
My husband and I have multiple Vornado circulators (what they call their unique air moving design fans), and have always felt their products were superior enough to other fans that the costs were merited. When I saw the "zippi" I definitely decided it was a "personal" fan, and no more, and people who are dissatisfied with them weren't paying attention to the manufacturer's description of these fans. Last spring (2007) I purchased one as a desk fan and one for a friend that was planning a tent-camping trip cross-country (with only a motorcycle and small trailer to carry his gear). He and I were both totally pleased with the zippis - they do exactly what the manufacturer says they will! In very hot weather the zippi proved to be a real lifesaver in a small tent that did not have large windows! After I saw the zippi in person I kicked myself for not buying more than one for myself. This week (June 2008) I ordered 4 more and plan to keep at least 2 of them for my use . . . and maybe, maybe give the other 2 as gifts. I made a "stuff bag" for mine from a section of blue jean leg--with a pull string and carrying strap. I perspire very easily, and take it with me to physical therapy and other appointments where I cannot control the "atmosphere".

16" Oscillating Wall-mount Fan

16" Oscillating Wall-mount Fan
16", 2 Tone Neutral Finish, Wall Mounted Oscillating Fan, 3 Speed, 3 Prong Grounded Cord Set, OSHA Approved, Assembled In USA.
Customer Review: Works Great
I bought this for my parents to use in their garage. They love it. Say it works great. They just ordered another one for their bathroom.
Customer Review: Bad experience.
I bought 2 of these (model 3016) fans. I thought the 1st one was just a bad apple. However both of them had blades that were out of balance. This made them vibrate, and when you hung them on the wall the whole wall vibrated, loudly. This is poor workmanship and or quality control. I went with another brand.

Cheap Honeywell HFS641P 16-Inch Remote Control Stand Fan

Honeywell HFS641P 16-Inch Remote Control Stand Fan
Promote full room air circulation with the 3 speed, oscillating Platinum Air Stand Fan with powerful wind generator blades. The wind turbine blades move more air than standard "pedal styled" blades helping to promote healthy indoor air circulation. Remote Control with audio and visual setting confirmation Oscillation Feature Programmable Timer for 2, 4, or 8 hr auto shut-off Breeze mode simulates outdoor wind flow Powerful 3 speed motor Head tilts to direct air flow No tool assembly
Customer Review: Nice fan, but again with the BEEPS
This fan does what I bought it to do, move air around. In that respect, it is awesome for a great price.
However, every time you turn on the blasted thing, it makes an annoying beep. Also when you press any button on the remote to switch modes, the dag-blasted BEEP. Why?
I live in an apartment building with wafer-thin walls and I feel bad for my neighbor when I go to bed really late. I know I can hear the beeps of other people's microwaves and air conditioners so I know that obnoxious beep in the middle of the night probably cuts through her like a hot knife through butter.
I also have a space heater that makes even more obnoxious beeps. Why? Is this some kind of government regulation? Can't they make the audio feedback a little less shrill? A more blunted, less harsh sound? Sheesh!
I'm going to try to take this thing apart and disable it's speaker. After that, this will be the perfect fan.
Customer Review: would be nice if I received it
This fan looks great, but despite saying that it is in stock, the company that Amazon outsources with for this product does not actually have any available. After several weeks and sending me two emails telling me that it is delayed, the order was finally cancelled. Yippee.

Customer Review: Hunter Palermo
The fan works good very quiet but installlation was a challenge, heavy and too many wires to fit in the cup. I was not thrilled with the energy light saving bulb it feels too cold. Overall is a good fan but I felt like I paid too much for it when I saw it selling on Costco for $50.00 less than what I paid at Amazon.
Customer Review: Quality for the fan is great, but the manual is another story
I guess I should have had help from someone when I was installing this fan, but I proceeded anyway.
Overall, the quality of the fan after the installation seems to be exellent. It looks better than the stock picture once installed. Since this was the first ceiling fan I have ever bought and installed by myself, all alone, I cannot compare it with any other brand or ones within other price range. But, again, overall, I would recommend others going for it.
Something to warn by the way.
If someone who has never had any experience installing any ceiling fan, be aware of the included manual. It's an absolutely horror to person like that. I had to look over and over for wiring diagram, and hooking the fan to the fixture. No reference can be found on Hunter's website, so no help from that either.
Anyway, I was able to finish up the job, but again, if someone wants to install it alone, at least ask someone who had experience or have one more person next you to install it.

Customer Review: Fits small windows
Living in a large house with no air conditioning and a lot of small windows, we've spent the last several years searching for window fans that fit in a window that's 23.5" wide. Most window fans are about 24" wide, so they go right back to the store after we pull them out of the box. So, this fan was interesting. Not available in local stores, so we couldn't just take a tape measure to it, we looked at numerous websites. Some said it would fit in a 23" window, and others said the width was 24.1". With summer coming, we took a chance. What we found was that 24.1" is the size of the packaging, and the fan will indeed fit in a 23" window. It also is a full featured fan, reversible, with adjustable louvers, and multiple speeds. That's the good stuff. The bad stuff is two fold. It's noisy; noisier than other window fans we have, and the lowest speed isn't exactly low. The other problem is, one of the two fans we bought died in a shower of sparks the second time we used it. The other is still going strong, but we don't like it enough to replace it with the same model. So, the search for the perfect fan continues....

Best Vornado V6 Flippi Personal Fan, Small, Midnight Blue

Vornado V6 Flippi Personal Fan, Small, Midnight Blue
Vornado introduces an innovative personal air circulator with chic style! The V6 Flippi, although compact, creates powerful air flow and uses a 2 speed control provides the perfect breeze. When not in use, it can also fold down to conceal the fan. With its sleek, high-gloss finish, modern design and whisper quiet functionality, the Flippi will add sophistication and flair to your home or office, but no noise!
Customer Review: Great fan. Disappointing customer service
I ordered the midnight blue version of this fan for my desk at work. When I turned it on for the first time it shorted out. I sent an E-mail to Vornado customer service but never received a reply. I called them a week later and they agreed to send UPS to pick up the defective fan and ship a new one to me. After a month went by and I still had not received a replacement fan. I called customer service again and they told me that they had received my fan and were not sure why the replacement fan had not been sent. They sent one to me the following week. My frustration continued when I opened the new fan to find that they had sent me the Rainddrop (teal green) color. I assume that the Midnight Blue version is no longer available but would have expected Vornado to give me the option to choose a new color instead of choosing for me. The fan works great and because I was desperate for a fan at work so I just kept it vs. dealing with the hassle of returning it again. I figure summer would be over by the time they got it all straightened out. If they had given me the option I probably would have paid to upgrade to the V8 version to get it in black.
Customer Review: It is what it is
I figured I'd write a review, because I feel this little fan has gotten some undue bad press.
For what it is, it is a very good little fan. It's very small, and sleek looking. Within 15 minutes of bringing it into my office cubicle, someone commented on how "cool" it looked.
Beyond the aesthetics of the fan, it produces a nice breeze on the low setting, which is virtually silent. Nothing that powerful, but you can definitely feel the breeze up to five feet away or so. The high setting seems to about double or triple the air moved, but it does produce a slight motor noise. Nothing too loud. At five feet away or so, it's just a low hum. Anything beyond that, and you can't really hear it.
For me, it is exactly what I was looking for. A quiet fan that lowers the temperature by a couple degrees and moves air around.
Pros:
- Virtually silent on the lowest setting
- Perfect for an office environment
- Looks "cool"
- Rotates on its base, so I don't have to pick it up to point it in a different direction.
Cons:
- High setting is arguably loud (it's acceptable in my environment)
- It's not a power house fan (if you just had a two hour work out session, this fan isn't going to cool you down much)
- It takes two hands to change between off/high/low settings, since it swivels on its base, and a dial controls speeds (one hand to hold it from swiveling, and another to turn the dial)

Cheap Lasko 4904 Space-Saving Pivoting Task Fan

Lasko 4904 Space-Saving Pivoting Task Fan
Finally, your own personal fan! Its compact size is ideal for the Office, Kitchen or the Bedroom. Precise air, the way you want it with two quiet speeds. If you're feeling generous, just pivot the fan up for general air circulation!
Customer Review: Quiet, perfect for office use
I keep this fan at my desk at work, and I think it is perfect for that. The Low setting is practically silent (similar noise to some CPU fans). It doesn't move a ton of air at this setting, but it is definitely sufficient for an office where we have AC anyway. My one complaint would be that the High setting is significantly louder, so I keep mine on Low all the time.
Customer Review: Works great
This fan works great. Only complaint I have its impossible to keep clean really needs a filter system or something.

Buy Cheap Westinghouse Contempra Trio Three-Light 42-Inch Five-Blade Ceiling Fan, Brushed Nickel with Frosted Globes

Westinghouse Contempra Trio Three-Light 42-Inch Five-Blade Ceiling Fan, Brushed Nickel with Frosted Globes #78615
The Westinghouse Contempra Trio fan is one of Westinghouse's "Hugger" series of fans, which are specially designed for rooms with low ceilings, as these fans do not hang down from the ceiling as far as ordinary fans do.
The Contempra Trio is a 42-inch, five-blade ceiling fan. The blades are reversible, and are rosewood on one side with bird's eye maple on the other. Both match nicely with the fan's brushed nickel finish.
The fan includes a three-light lighting kit with the three lights creating a triangular pattern beneath the center of the fan and providing welcome light when necessary; the globes are frosted glass.
42-inch fans are best suited for medium-sized rooms such as recreation rooms, living rooms, or a children's bedroom but can be used for larger rooms. The fan is covered with a 25 year limited warranty.--Jeffrey Dalto

Customer Review: Very good one for the money
We live in Texas where the summer temperatures are around 100. We were looking to install fans in the bed rooms. Initially I installed one. We were happy with it. So we installed two more. I would have give 5 stars if it were not for some minor problems like it is a bit wobbly and occasionally makes some sound. Over all very nice one for the money. It has both summer and winter settings. I would definitely recommend this to others.
Customer Review: Whats not to like?
I had to remove a 52 inch fan to install this one. This fan fits the room better(10 X 10). It looks very classy for the price. I have no unwanted noise. But personally I like a little white noise. My alarm clock has about 6 different background noises. The fan is so quiet I may still have to use the sound machine. As for the lights they have the small sockets. They are kind of like Christmas light size. With a max of 60 watt. Since I installed the light in the bedroom I don't need max brightness. And if I am right I could get some cool colors, you know to spice up my........

Customer Review: Excellent Product for the Money
It's very quiet, doesn't vibrate, and blends into the ceiling. This low profile fan is excellent quality for the money.
Customer Review: powerful & low profile
I love this fan! We have a tri-level home, so I really needed a fan that did not sit too low from the ceiling. This one is great! We have a swap cooler (no AC) and this cools down the room significantly! My only complaint is that it is not white like it says. It is more of an off-white.

Customer Review: Quiet 2-speed fan works great
I purchased this fan for my daughter because her west-facing room gets especially hot in the evenings, even with A/C on. We had another fan that was too loud for her and that vibrated terribly when we placed it up high enough so she could feel the wind from it. This fan was the perfect solution! We clipped it on her bed and she can adjust it herself from off to high or low. It is the quietest fan in our house by far and she can still hear her Mozart good night music, which we play quietly, over the fan. The fan is easy to angle or adjust as well and the clip is strong once you've placed it so it stays in place. We are really happy with this purchase and my husband who can't stand to hear a pin drop is considering getting one for himself.
Customer Review: Air King 6" 2-speed clip-on fan # 9145
This was a gift but I understand from receipients that this fan uses signifiancatly LESS ENERGY than equivalent fans and they like it very much. GOOD FOR SOLAR SYSTEMS DUE TO LOW ENERGY USAGE.

Cheap Holmes HACP9 Oscilllating Clip Fan

Holmes HACP9 Oscilllating Clip Fan
Holmes Clip-On Oscillating Fan - Perfect for the office, this clip-on oscillating fan can attach to a shelf, desk, or cubicle wall. The rubber grip clip keeps it in place while it cools you all day long.
Customer Review: "Fey" fan here !
A little pricey, a little late on delivery, and not easy to use in our bathroom.
Customer Review: Fan is quiet but not powerful enough
For a clip on fan this isn't a bad choice. It has an extremely sturdy clip however the motor isn't powerful enough. Maybe for a clip on fan this is the best they could do without making it obnoxiously loud.

Hunter 90121 Century 17-Inch Oscillating Pedestal Fan, Brushed Nickel

Hunter 90121 Century 17-Inch Oscillating Pedestal Fan, Brushed Nickel
Brushed Nickel Finish / Powerful motor delivers maximum airflow / All-metal construction / Smooth oscillation / 3 Speeds / 120 Volts / 1 Year Warranty
Customer Review: Not So Quiet
I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in this fan. It's made to last a lifetime, but despite its cost it is quite loud for the amount of air it moves. True, it's almost silent on its lowest speed setting, but it moves almost no air. On medium, it blows about as hard as my cheap plastic fans do on low, but it's much louder. On high, it fairly howls. I think you'd have trouble carrying on a conversation in the same room. Someone said the only noise it makes is air movement, and what can you do about that, but I disagree. The wind doesn't make a loud buzzing noise when it blows through my window, no matter how hard.
The advantage this has over cheap plastic fans (other than weight and durability); the metal blades don't flex. With my plastic fans, the noise level (and amount of air moved) seems to fluctuate. They start out moderately noisy with a nice stream of air, then 90 seconds later the air stream dies down and the fan gets extra loud, then back to moderate and windy, over and over again. The change in noise makes it impossible to use plastic fans on anything but low while I'm sleeping. The Hunter fan is a lot louder, but at least the noise level is constant, and I can sleep with it.
Customer Review: Great Fan
I bought two of these fand from Amazon. The first arrived quickly and went togeather easily. The second arrived in a damaged box and the fan housing was broken. Amazon arranged to have it picked up and promptly shipped me another fan at no cost. Hopefully this one works out.

Hunter Low Profile lll 42-Inch Four-Blade Ceiling Fan

Hunter Low Profile lll 42-Inch Four-Blade Ceiling Fan, White # 23866
A ceiling fan cuts energy costs year 'round. Cool off during the summer by installing one in just about any room. During the winter, recirculate the warm air that rises throughout the house.
Customer Review: Quiet & Cool
My home does not have central air & I didn't want a window a/c unit for environmental reasons, so I decided to get a ceiling fan above the bed. The ceiling upstairs is only 7.5 feet high , so I ordered this low profile Hunter fan. I had been pleased with the two other Hunter fans I have had for many years.
I was not disappointed.
This fan is very plain, but it is small and quiet & perfect for a good night's sleep on a hot summer night.
Customer Review: Perfect for Small Bedrooms
This is the fourth Hunter Low Profile ceiling fan we've purchased for our home. This 42-inch four-blade model is perfect for smaller bedrooms with eight-foot ceilings. The housing fits nicely on the ceiling where the light fixture was, it doesn't hang down too low, and it's very quiet for sleeping. Hunter suppresses the motor sound by using rubber bumpers between the mounting bracket and ceiling, soft rubber grommets for each blade, and of course a quiet motor. We're very satisfied with this product, and our first two are still quiet after three years.

Holmes 7 Twin Window Fan HAWF2021-U
Twin fans with independent controls. Reversible motor to bring in cool air or exhaust stale air. 2 addtional extender panels for large window.
Customer Review: Holmes Fan
The Holmes window fan was not what I had in mind. I tried to return it only to find Amazon did not take returns on Holmes Fans. My fault, didn't read return policy for Holmes fans. Beware of that.
Holmes would not let me return it to them for a refund. Fortunately, Amazon allowed me to return it to them if I paid the shipping. Then they credited me for the shipping cost also. So, thanks to Amazon, it worked out ok for me in the end.
Customer Review: Holmes Window Fan
Nice product,PROS: easy to install,built-in extender panel CONS: Reversible Air FLow control is not automated"its manual you have to reposition the fan again. 3/5

Customer Review: That's nice.
Fan hooked up easily to outdoor hose. Placed it on the back porch in the middle of a hot and dry San Antonio Summer. Kept everyone nice and cool. When the humidity went up, tended to leave everything damp; but overall a cheap and easy way to cool an open air porch in dry/hot conditions.
Customer Review: Misting Fac
A horrible product. Will soak you good anywhere within 12 feet. May be better suited to water yards.

Customer Review: GREAT FAN FOR 6 YRS +
I'VE HADE THIS FAN FOR 6 + YRS.
TOP AND BOTTOM SCREW YOU NEED TO DRILL THE HEAD OFF IF YOU WANT A GOOD CLEAN,THE REST ARE PHILLIPS HEAD,TO GET THE FACE OFF, BUT THIS FAN HAS OUTLASTED THE BIGER METAL FANS WITCH ONLY LAST ABOUT 1 YR, ITS ALMOST AS BIG AS IT AND HAS JUST AS MUCH POWER.........
Customer Review: Great Fan, Perfect Size
I have a 150 yr old house with very small windows in the upstairs and this fan still fits right in and pushes a great deal of air. Unlike other similar fans, the frame part isn't huge, so the only thing that takes up the space is the actual fan grill itself. I love it!

Customer Review: Best fan I've ever bought
Seriously, this is the best fan I've ever purchased - and I've bought a number. I just moved into Senior Housing and while all utilities are included in the rent, the A/C in the bedroom just doesn't cut it during our 100 degree nights.
This Hunter fan is terrific - I had to check twice to be sure I only had it on low because the air circulation is so good. Quieter than the A/C. Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Can't complain
I ordered two Hunter fans and both arrived on time and undamaged. I've only used one 2 or 3 times when we had such an unusual hotspell in CA. So far I'm quite pleased. They are sturdy and well made and not loud. I'm ready whenever CA heats up again.

Little fans work GREAT
My family uses the little fans to clip to doors in our house to help our air conditioner out....they are great and move a lot of air.
Clip on fan
Absolutely love it. The day I bought the fan to work was the day the AC was down. Everyone wanted to chill at my cubicle. Our cubicle walls are paper thin and the fan was so quiet that my co-worker didn't even know I had it on until they felt the breeze as they walked by my desk.

Coleman Free Standing Tent Fan

Coleman Free Standing Tent Fan
2 Speed, Free Standing Tent Fan, Adjustable Airflow Control, Folds Easily For Compact Storage, Operates Up To 21 Hours On Four 'D' Batteries Sold Separately.
Fan is Great in a pinch
I own two of these Fans that we use in our 21 ft. Travel trailer we place as to create a cross wind in our trailer when we are camping with no hook ups and / or do not want to waste our Power on the A/C. It is defanitly a two fan job if needed for a large area. one would be good for a small tent.
weak and noisy
This fan produces a gentle breeze that can cool off a small tent on a hot night. And it will run all night at low power on a set of D cells. But after just a few uses it has become very noisy. It still seems to work OK if you can stand the racket.
WindChaser Outdoor Misting Fan

WindChaser Outdoor Misting Fan
This WindChaser fan takes breezy cool-down to a new level by adding water to the mix. Perfect for hot, dry climates, the fan combines an extra-powerful shower-proof motor with simple operation. Just hook it to a standard 3/4-inch garden hose, turn it on, and sit back. The fan features aerodynamic blades and four misting nozzles angled out from the center panel to direct water into the air path. Capable of cooling outdoor temperature a full 25 degrees F, the fan also cuts down on dust and discourages flying insects. The fan's power panel is straightforward, with covered switches and three separate speeds. The unit can also be used indoors or without the misting function, and a simple pull-button in back stops the oscillating. All of the fan's components are resistant to UV rays and rust, and the three-pronged power cord is structured for safety. The fan head measures 16 inches in diameter and the diameter of the base is 20 inches. The unit is adjustable from 47 inches to 58 inches high. It is UL listed for indoor and outdoor use and comes with four replacement nozzles. --Emily Bedard
Great for Ooutdoors!
This is a great outdoor fan and it really does mae those hot summer days more tolerable. However, unless you plan on getting wet, make sure you keep it far enough so that you and your guests don't get misted.
WindChaser Fan
We live in Florida and to enjoy our back porch in the summer, this was the perfect answer. I highly recommend it.

Coleman Tent Fan

Coleman Tent Fan
Magnet secures fan without harming tent material Soft pliable fan blade 16-hour continuous run time Operates on 1 D-cell battery
Mediocre personal fan at best
My family and I bought this fan before a camping trip to South Carolina in July. I was really looking forward to a cool breeze in our tent. Much to my dismay, this puny fan did not provide ANY breeze. Holding it in your hand, 6 inches away from your face, it is a mediocre personal fan. It might work for one-person tents, but for families or hot climates, this isn't worth its weight.
Fragile Blades
I have one of these fans. It worked great until the blades broke off. I got about 4 or 5 camping trips with it. Next time I took it out of the camping chest the blades were broken. Not much good now & don't know how to get more blades. I would suggest instead of this item to find a tent fan with a good cage around the blades to protect them. No chain is stonger than its weakest link, and these flimsy unprotected blades are its weakest link. I would think Coleman could do better than this.

Lasko 3733 20-Inch 3-Speed Box Fan

Lasko 3733 20-Inch 3-Speed Box Fan
20", Gray, Compact Box Fan, 3 Speed Motor, Convenient Carrying Handle, Durable Steel Body, No Assembly Required, 1 Year Warranty, Assembled In USA.
Moves enough air without becoming super-loud
This fan works as advertised, and like any box fan makes some noise when running. I do think it's quieter than the cheap Sears fan I bought 5 years ago, but it probably moves a little less air. Airflow is sufficient to cool a large bedroom pretty well though. I'd recommend giving this fan a try...anything with more airflow will become exponentially louder. I'm not sure though that the Amazon fan at this price is much different than the Lasko fans at some large brick and motar stores for somewhat less.
very nice fan!
This fan is very quiet and blows a nice breeze. It is not as good as the preimium box fan but I still like this fan. Some people are saying that this fan is loud but I don't see how loud it is. It realy has a nice quiet sound to it and it moves a nice amount of air. GREAT FAN!

O2 Cool, powerful fan
This is an amazingly powerful fan which I just used, when the a/c died 2 days after its arrival! Even in 90 degree heat, it put out a strong breeze which provided great relief. I used an a/c adapter, since I still had power. This company packed the fan VERY well, which I appreciated. I highly recommend both the fan AND the company.
Sleep in the breeze
OK, I actually bought this fan last year for a july camping trip and did'nt come back to write a recomendation. Now just back from camping in RI and there was a heat wave, I got home to a bad storm and power outage lasting 12 hours! This fan has been worth its weight in gold! I slept good both hot nights with the fan on low blowing across me. Battery life is good too! Now my Mother wants one for her next power outage. Thanks O2 cool!! Bob- Mahopac, NY

Bionaire BW2300 Twin Window Fan

Bionaire BW2300 Twin Window Fan with Remote Control
With a remote control for convenient adjustment, this double window fan draws in fresh, cool air from the outside or exhausts stale, hot air from inside. It can also do both simultaneously, because each of the two fans can be set independently to draw in or exhaust out, allowing the unit to exchange inside and outside air. Operable either manually or automatically--with its thermostat turning the fans off and on to maintain a selected temperature--the unit has three speeds, electronic controls, and an LCD screen showing the selected temperature and the room temperature. The remote control (two AAA batteries are included) alters speed, manual/automatic operation, air-flow direction, and temperature.
The twin fan is designed to fit double-hung, vertical-slider, and casement windows. A built-in 7-inch extender and two 3-inch extenders permit custom fitting for windows from 24 to 37 inches wide. Because the unit is lightweight plastic it can be moved easily from room to room. The fans have six blades and measure 8-1/2 inches in diameter. Overall, the unit is 13 inches high, arrives fully assembled, and carries a five-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack
Great window fan.
I've had this fan more than a year now and decided to write a review after having bought a Honeywell window fan. I guess I didn't really appreciate this bionaire before I used the other fan, Honeywell. Honeywell window fan is so loud that I can't use it for my bedroom. So I decided to use it for the living room, but now I have to turn up the TV volume higher and get irritated by the noise. But, bionaire's quite and circulate air very well. I really recommend this bionaire fan to anyone comparing between Honeywell and Bionaire.
Great fan, powerful and quiet, but don't count on temp control
As others have said the temperature control auto mode is useless. However I didn't buy it for that feature so I don't care. Poor production quality though.
This fan was very easy to set up and operate. I appreciate the ability to change the air flow direction. The fans are both quiet and powerful. The remote works well.
Our house is well insulated with 6" exterior walls. Once it gets hot from the sun coming in through the large glass surfaces it is hard to cool off even though the evening outside air is cool. This window fan pulls warm air out of the house allowing us to open windows in strategic places to draw in cool air. The first time we used it it paid for itself.

this fan moves a lot of air. it is too noisy and ill probably take it back because of that. It has 3 speeds and i wish there were 2 more lower speeds. 2 of the rubber feet were missing and unfortunately it left scratches\dents in my wood floor.
-my dream fan would Not be made in China

Very nice fan
This fan is perfect to cool down a small space. On days when the temperatures have dropped some, I love to turn off the AC and open the doors and windows. Even when it's nice outside, it can get very warm inside with AC off. I've discovered that this fan is perfect for cooling off the space I'm in. And, it is easy to move from room to room when needed.

Manufactured with the attention to detail you expect from the Hunter Fan Company, the Century Oscillating Table Fan is quiet, and generates an amazingly strong, comfortable airflow in any room. Perfect for home or office! Approximately 15 inches in height
Great fan
Nice looking. Quiet. Looks built to last, but we'll see. I haven't experienced the start up issues others have. It move a lot of air too.
this one's a keeper
I orderd the floor model and this version from Hunter and have been very pleased. They are beautiful to look at, weighty, as solidly made as they can be and very quiet. The buttons are thick pieces of solid metal. There is no plastic anywhere on these. Their lowest speed is almost inaudible, yet they cool by moving air so efficiently. My friend had no difficulty putting them together for me. They were packaged carefully to avoid breakage. I have one upstairs and one down and my house is cooled wonderfully. Don't understand all the made in China bashing and complaints about degree of diffculty in assembling in all the other reviews. The quality is remarkable.

Holmes Window Fan w/ Accutemp Plus, HAWF3095-U

Holmes Window Fan w/ Accutemp Plus, HAWF3095-U
People who favor fans over air conditioners like to feel a house breathe. A good window fan is a real blessing to a fan person, and doubly so if that fan can be set to blow in two directions. Double the benefits yet again if that window fan has two fan blades, each of which can be set either in or out. The Holmes HAWF3095 window fan has those quadrupled benefits, and then some. There are two 3-speed fans in the unit, each of which can be set for air intake or exhaust, or for air exchange, when one blows in and one out. In addition, there's a programmable digital thermostat and timer, so the fan can shut off automatically when nights get too chilly. And of course there is a simple on/off mode, especially good with the air exchange configuration.
Air direction is set by using the sliding switches located above each fan blade. The mode button is used to turn the fan on and control the speed. The mode button also cycles through three automatic thermostat settings: Auto High, Medium, and Low. There are two additional temperature adjustment buttons to fine-tune the thermostat to a personal comfort level. In addition, a timer setting allows the fan to be programmed to turn on and off at one-hour increments over a period of as long as 16 hours. The HAWF3095 fits most windows, whether it be a casement, slider, or double-hung style. The fan can function either horizontally or vertically, and there are two 3-inch extenders that can slide on at either or both ends to help tailor the fan to most any window.
Always unplug fan before cleaning. Use a soft cloth moistened with a mild, nonabrasive soap solution. Do not use gasoline, paint thinner, or benzene as a cleaning solution; also do not allow water to drip on or enter fan housing. The Holmes HAWF3095 window fan measures 25 by 13 by 5-1/2 inches. (For certain casement windows, a specifically designed bracket may be required; upon request, Holmes customer service supplies this bracket free of charge, along with installation instructions.) Holmes provides a five-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal use conditions. --Garland Withers
Customer Review: A Toy Fan
I have had window fans that actually pulled out hot air from a second story room, allowing cooler first floor air to flow upstairs.
On the exhaust setting this window fan is more like a toy. When it didn't seem to be creating ANY air flow in the exhaust mode, I tested it by letting smoke drift about a foot from the fans. The fans didn't pull the smoke toward them, much less pull hot air from my 8x8 mini office. It might work best as a fan blowing IN, but I needed an exhaust fan. It is one of the more expensive small window fans and I expected it to be more functional.
Customer Review: Functional, but missing some critical features
This window fan is perfectly functional, but the absence of some features mars an otherwise desirable product.
Pros:
- It moves plenty of air, and keeps my 12'x15' room nice and cool.
- It has some nice automatic features, like a timer function and thermostat control.
Cons:
- Too deep to fit inside my window screen.
The back end of the unit is surprisingly large, so I removed my window screen. No big deal, right? Well...
- No dust screen.
After a few weeks of use, you'll start to notice dust and grime buildup along the path of the airflow. A decade or so ago, I owned a window fan with a removable dust screen that was easy to clean and prevented such buildup. Furthermore, due to the unit depth and lack of dust screen...
- The front and rear gratings are huge enough to let critters as large as bees in.
If your fan is not operating continuously, bugs will be able to fly into your house with ease. Either a dust screen or a closable vent would have solved this, but...
- No adjustable vent.
You can't direct the airflow, and you can't close the fan when it's not in use. But that said, even if you could close the fan itself...
- The adjustable length adapter does not sit flush with the rest of the unit.
This leaves a gap of approximately 3/8" between the window and the sliding adjuster. I taped the gap shut, but it's just another irritating design flaw.
- Annoying mechanical hum that's louder than the fan noise at low settings.
The hum appears to go away after an hour or so (either that or I adapt to it), but if the fan is using thermostat control, this noise will be prevalent whenever the fan is running. Speaking of the thermostat...
- The thermostat with digital readout is just silly.
Let's face it, the thermostat is built into the unit, approximately four inches from the path of airflow. If the temperature outside is 66 degrees, the temperature inside is 78 degrees, and your thermostat is set to 72 degrees, the fan will turn on, blow for about 15 seconds, 'read' a new indoor temperature of 71 degrees, and shut off, while the rest of the room is still warm. 45 seconds later, the air temperature will equilibrate and the fan will turn on again. While it's nice to be able to control the indoor temperature, the digital readout is inaccurate and unncessary.
I'll probably keep this fan around for the rest of the summer, and maybe cut a piece of foam or tape an air filter onto the fan intake as a temporary solution, but bottom line? I'll probably hawk this fan to some poor sucker on the first hot day next summer at a yard sale and buy a better unit.

DeLonghi DFH132 SafeHeat Fan Heater

DeLonghi DFH132 SafeHeat Fan Heater
No more worrying about overheating or starting a fire, a ceramic thermal cut-off mechanism shuts the heater down if it's accidentally tipped over or covered with curtains, blankets etc. A dual heat-flow setting makes it easy to regulate. Choose the "hi" setting for 1500 watts or the "lo" setting for 750 watts. And, an adjustable thermostat helps fine-tune temperatures and conserve energy. When winter is over, the fan operates without heat for summer cooling. A built-in handle and wide solid base ensures optimal stability and convenient portability. And, this quiet operator is perfect for any room in the house. An anti-freeze setting automatically turns on the heater when the temperature reaches 44 degrees Fahrenheit. --Brian Olson
Fan for office
I bought this as a space heater for under my desk at the office. It works well. The heat comes on every few minutes as there is a temperature adjustment.
Good heater
This is a great heater. It cuts on and off to regulate the temperature and does not give off that burning smell that some do. The fan portion is a little weak put is good for a small room or office. Overall, I think this product is worth every penny.

Holmes Tower Fan HT38-U

Holmes Tower Fan HT38-U, Black
3 Speed Settings / Slim, Space Saving Tower Design / High Performance Centrifugal Blade / Wide Area Oscillation / 8.5" x 5.9" x29.5" / Weight 8.36 pounds
Decent for the Price
I'm sort of surprised by a former reviewer's title of "Excellent Quality," as I think the quality is average (at best). I bought 2 of these as well as a Lasko 40-Inch Elite Wind Tower with Remote Control, and the Lasko's quality is FAR superior (granted, the Lasko is double the price). These Holmes fans ARE decent for the price though.
Pros:
Decent air volume/movement
Price
Not too noisy (again, keeping price in mind)
Cons:
Controls feel "cheap," and you have to really push the buttons in firmly to change a setting.
While the base seems reasonably stable, the fans are a bit wobbly at the oscillation joint.
Not trashing these by any stretch of the imagination, but average quality is a more realistic description.
Excellent Quality
This circulates the air around the room just fine. What I look for in a product is build quality. I have had mine for over a year and I never turn it off. It still runs without issues. I only buy Holmes fans because they are long lasting and are priced just right. It is whisper quiet as well.

Soleus Air FTY-25 10-Inch Wall Mountable Table Fan

Soleus Air FTY-25 10-Inch Wall Mountable Table Fan
A good fan can make the difference between a sleepless and a restful night. Soleus Air's FTY-25 10-inch table fan has three speeds and a five-finned blade--five fins move more air than the traditional four--to help make a hot, stuffy room feel much cooler. In addition, it has a timer that can be set for up to two hours; that way the fan shuts off by the time the evening is cooling down. The fan head is anchored on top and bottom like a globe, allowing it 180 degrees of rotation, and the fan grill can oscillate to push air into a wider area.
The FTY-25 table fan has a modern look to it, with an asymmetrical, crescent-shaped stand that curves around the circular fan head. It's built of heavy-duty silver plastic and has blue-gray detailing. It sits on two rounded feet; there are wall-mounting screw brackets on the underside of the feet. Speed selection is made with a sliding knob on the side, and there's a simple on-off toggle for the oscillation. The timer button echoes the crescent shape of the fan's body; it is marked in 20-minute increments, but it can be set at any point between 0 and 120 minutes. The power cord is 5 feet long, which can be especially helpful when using the FTY-25 as a wall fan.
To use as a wall fan, mount two screws vertically to a wall at a distance of 7-5/6 inches from each other, and use the two wall-mounting screw brackets in the bottom of the feet. Always unplug fan before cleaning; use a soft cloth, dry or only slightly moistened, and towel or allow to air dry afterward. Do not allow water to drip on or enter fan housing. The 115-volt Soleus Air FTY-25 table fan measures 14-1/2 by 14-1/2 by 6-1/2 inches, with a 10-inch fan head. Soleus Air offers a 1-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal use conditions. --Garland Withers
Got $20 and need fan? Look no further
I have to tell you, and with much verve as it were, that this fan is wonderful.
My old fan was loud, rickety, tall and dusty, dirty, etc...
I brought in this Soleus Air and I am so happy. This is wonderful in any small office space or bedroom for sure.
It's whisper quiet, you cannot even tell it's oscillating because it's all done very subtle-like which means it doesn't take up a ton of space having to move the entire head back and forth.
It's beautiful aesthetically, and functionally.
The best $20 I spent all summer.
This fan is so AWSOME it will blow you away!
This is the best fan I have ever purchased. It is so quiet!! It will really cool you off! I PROMISE!!

Customer Review: Returned Product
The fan was not packaged properly resulting in the motor burning out before i received it.
Good Fan
I've been really happy with this fan. In fact, it's the only thing that gets me to sleep at night. I think it was a great deal.

Battery Powered Fan (most powerful battery fan on the market)

Battery Powered Fan (most powerful battery fan on the market)
Stay cool when the power goes out with this portable battery powered fan. The battery fan is equipped to operate on 12 volts of battery power or 120 volts from a house outlet. A battery operated fan is a must for hurricanes or when the power goes out. This portable battery powered fan goes anywhere and last for over 24 hours on a set of alkaline batteries.
save your money
the hinges broke the second time I opened it.
Then, there was some kind of short in the circuitry. The fan ran for two second, shut off and never ran again.
Cheap plastic parts and cheap construction make it hard to pack 8 heavy D batteries inside of it. Don't waste your time or money.
Save Your Money!
Don't waste your money on this fan, even if they were giving it away for free! You can wave your hand and get a bette breeze then you get from this fan. I read the review and bought two. You get what you pay for. A tissue doesn't move if you put it about 3 feet away from the fan at high speed.

Honeywell HFT114B Oscillating Base Turbo Fan
Keep the air in your home, office or workspace circulating and fresh with the HONEYWELL HFT114B Fan. This High Performance Fan features an oscillating base for even air dispersion.
Great Compact Fan Deal!
I ordered this fan for my new apartment to help circulate the central air that freezes the bedroom while the living room bakes. It really moves a lot of air and isn't loud at all (sure, it isn't silent, but it isn't obtrusive at all and is actually quite pleasant for sleeping.) I really appreciate the oscillating function because it doesn't squeak and helps for a more thorough air flow. It is also quite compact and sleek but with a decent cord length. The head can be adjusted (and stays put!) and has three functions that offer choice. Really nice little fan!
good fan for the $
for the price, this is a good little fan. i've had two of them for a while and they both still oscillate. i would definitely recommend it.

Duracraft DY-012 Oscillating 3-Speed Tower Fan

Duracraft DY-012 Oscillating 3-Speed Tower Fan
Duracraft Tower Fan. Easy Push Button Controls for easy operation. Oscillation for wide breeze cooling. 3 Speed Settings-High Medium and Low operation options.
Good tower fan
Purchased this fan almost a year ago from Amazon. It blows really cool air even on a hot summer day. Good replacement for A/C if outside temperature is less than 95. It was very quiet until couple of weeks ago. Now after couple of hours of use it's making some noises. That is only reason for giving it 4 stars, otherwise it's a very good fan. Yet to contact the manufacturer for repair/replacement. Hope the warranty will be honored.
Awesome fan
This is my first tower fan and I will tell you now that this is the best fan I have ever owned! So long small box fans and traditional shaped oscillating fans. This has lots of power without being overwhelming and operates very quietly. I searched all over the net to find a good fan, and this one has great value at a price that's impossible to beat.
Honeywell HW-628 Twin Window Fan

Honeywell HW-628 Twin Window Fan
The Honeywell Enviracaire HW628 Twindow Twin Window Fan can be adjusted to promote fluid air circulation for comfort and freshness in your room on even the most squalid days of the year. Built-in adjustable side screens Uses 110-120 Volts AC UL approved
Excellent Window Fan
I am quite happy with this fan, as it does an excellent job in cooling the room in which it is placed. I have not been able to get the themostat functionality working, however, as the fan remains on for the entire night.
One other thing I found difficult was adjusting the side screens. I needed assistance in holding the fan up to determine how much to pull the screens out and to lock them in that position. This was only a minor issue, as the screens need only be adjusted once.
This window fan works much better in cooling a room than an oscillating fan. I recommend the Honeywell HW-628 Twin Window Fan.
Excellent fan
I love this fan. With the thermostat, it puts out cool air even on very warm days. Fits easily into window and looks nice. I am very pleased

Honeywell HT800 Super Turbo High Performance Fan

Honeywell HT800 Super Turbo High Performance Fan, Black
Cool off during the hot days of summer with this powerful turbo fan from Honeywell. The .52-amp fan sits alone or can be wall-mounted to provide a steady breeze. Tilting back 90 degrees, the fan also enhances air circulation in stagnant rooms and can assist in clearing smoke or hot air out of a room when pointed away from the room in question. Sleek in design, the compact fan fits into most interior design motifs.
honeywell fan
This little guy makes a lot of noise. Blows a lot of air but just not for me.
Great value
I was so pleased with first pair of these that I bought two more. They are small, easy to move around and the built in handle is very convenient. Very low electric usage. I measured it at 28 watts on low, 32 on medium and 36 on high. My old box used 3 times as much electricity to move about the same amount of air. Quiet on low but a little noisy on the other speeds. A great value.
